Latest heart health news

It is a common fact that better information leads to better health care. There are constant development taking place in the field of medicine. Thanks to research new methods of treatment are being developed day by day in order to prevent or treat major health care problems.

Heart attacks strike without a warning but new imaging tests could predict the likely hood of heart attack. The new imaging test give a clear picture of accumulation of  fat or  plaque buildup in blood vessels. A number of imaging tests have been invented that could show in advance many risk being faced by the organ.  If you are a high risk patient proper treatment could lower the risk.

Dr. Arthur Agatston is a cardiologist from Miami he  invented a coronary calcium scan. The scan looks at plaque in the arteries.  Another ultrasound test is able to discover plaque in the carotid artery. This a vessel that delivers blood to the brain. This test is hence able to predict high risk of stroke.

Both the test are non invasive however in calcium scan exposure to radiation may be there. These tests should be routinely conducted after fifty years of age. This will lead to better health care.
